Pre season 2026 - Argentina

Summary of two intensive months of physical and tennis training on clay courts in Argentina followed by a few tournaments around the country

After spending the start of the year focusing on physical preparation for the upcoming 2026 season, the group of four players and I are flying to Buenos Aires, where the weather conditions (it’s summer there) allow us to prepare for the upcoming clay-court season. The plan for the next two months is as follows: two weeks of intensive physical conditioning combined with tennis, followed by a greater focus on match play before competing in several tournaments across Argentina. We’ll be making use of the courts and facilities at Leonardo Olguin’s academy (Diego Schwartzman’s long-standing coach), which will allow us to train several times a day, both on the court and in the gym. Furthermore, as Buenos Aires is one of the world’s leading centres for top-level tennis, it is possible to train with players ranging from the world’s top 100 right down to amateurs; this is therefore a wonderful opportunity to improve. We will also visit the courts of the city’s Lawn Tennis Club – where the ATP 250 tournament is held – on several occasions to play with numerous players as sparring partners. Next, it’s the boys turn to take to the court; several Challenger 50 (Tigre) and 125 (Rosario) tournaments, another for the UTR rankings (Córdoba) and a final M25 event in San Miguel de Tucumán. A two-month experience designed to ensure we return to Europe mentally, physically and tennis-wise stronger, whilst training at top-class facilities. I, too, am learning more and more, as I’m in charge of all the young players’ physical preparation as well as their tennis development, not to mention their off-court activities; it’s been intense, but extremely beneficial.
